General Surgery
General surgery involves the surgical treatment of a broad range of commonplace health problems. General surgeons have a particular interest in acute abdominal conditions.
At Berkshire Independent Hospital we offer diagnosis and treatment of general surgical conditions. Our diagnostic services perform investigative tests onsite including endoscopic exams, ultrasounds, x-rays, MRI’s and CT scans.
Our highly skilled and experienced consultant general surgeons treat common abdominal complaints including: hernias, gallbladder surgeries, appendicitis, anal fissure and fistula, lumps and bumps, haemorrhoids, pilonidal sinus and lipoma removal. They regularly perform colonoscopies, endoscopies, gastroscopies, hernia surgery, haemorrhoids removal, anti-reflux surgery, gall stone surgery, colorectal and rectal disorder surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration, anti-obesity surgery and upper GI cancer surgery. When possible minimal invasive (keyhole) surgery will be performed. Our general surgeons will access, and refer with, other specialists within the hospital as required.
We offer first class local care to the community of Berkshire, including appointment times to suit you, consultant-led care and excellent post-surgery aftercare.
