Dermatology involves the care of the skin and hair and its various conditions. It’s a wide ranging specialty that comprises of many common skin problems (eczema, dermatosis, psoriasis, acne, moles and warts) as well as numerous skin cancers and, aesthetic enhancements to the skin.
Having a skin complaint can have a huge impact on a person’s self-esteem as well as their comfort and wellbeing. We listen, understand and offer advice and effective treatments to manage these skin conditions.
Berkshire Independent Hospital has two well regarded consultant dermatologists who come highly recommended by previous patients. They offer convenient personal appointments to assess and diagnose all dermatology problems and to fully discuss treatment options and timescales specific to a patient’s condition and individual circumstances. We also run a mole screening clinic to detect skin cancer early.
Surgical and non-surgical treatments are available. Minor skin surgery includes the excision of skin lesions (lumps or bumps on your skin, such as moles, cysts, warts or skin tags) and when clinically appropriate we carry out the procedure on the same day as the initial consultation in our outpatient setting.
Non-surgical treatments include: cryotherapy for skin lesions (keratosis and warts), steroid creams for eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis, isotretinoin for acne treatment and, medication for fungal skin infections.
