Male Cosmetic Surgery
Male cosmetic surgery is increasing in popularity. Men can care about their looks as much as women and more frequently now they won’t suffer in silence but instead seek cosmetic surgery if they’ve a part of their body they would like changed.
Our cosmetic surgeons see many men who choose to have body enhancing surgical procedures including: male breast reduction surgery, liposuction, face lifts, eyelid surgery and nose jobs. We also offer non-surgical options including: muscle relaxing injections, tattoo removal using laser treatment and acne treatment.
Gynaecomastia, also referred to as enlarged male breast tissue or man boobs, is a common condition where a boy’s or man’s breast tissues swell and becomes larger than normal. This can lead to embarrassment and lack of self-confidence.
Surgery for gynaecomastia is carried out under general anaesthetic and takes around 60 to 90 minutes to perform. Your cosmetic surgeon will remove excess breast tissue during the procedure.
The aim of cosmetic male breast reduction surgery is to create a more masculine chest appearance.
Blepharoplasty is also called eye bag removal or eyelid surgery and involves the removal or addition of fatty tissues around the eyes and removing or smoothing skin surrounding the eyes. It can be performed on either your upper and lower lids to treat loose or sagging skin that can result in folds and puffiness in your eyelids and under eyes. Sometimes vision can be also impaired.
In men a blepharoplasty procedure offers a natural and masculine look by making the brow positioning and initial eyelid incision lower than in women.
Blepharoplasty is performed as a day case procedure under general anaesthetic and takes around one or two hours. It aims to rejuvenate the areas around your eyes. It can also improve sight.
A rhinoplasty (nose reshaping or nose job) can be performed to make your nose smaller, larger, thinner, wider or to remove unwanted bumps. Being the central feature of your face the nose draws attention and many men (and women) are unhappy with their nose.
Your cosmetic surgeon can change the shape of your nose and in some cases your nostrils by modifying or removing bone or cartilage or using a graft of bone and cartilage. The angle between your nose and top lip can also be altered.
The operation takes up to three hours and is carried out under a general anaesthetic. The aim of rhinoplasty is to adjust the size, shape and length of your nose to improve the appearance of your whole face and increase your confidence in the way you look. It can also help make breathing easier.
Split earlobe repair
Split ear lobes can be the result of an earring getting caught, damage caused from contact sport or gradually developing over time. Men often wear heavy earrings that can cause elongation of the pierced hole and damage of the ear lobe.
If you would like your ear lobe repaired your cosmetic surgeon will perform the surgery under local anaesthetic on an outpatient basis and it will normally take approximately half an hour.
