Dr Alexander Evans graduated from University College London Medical School and was awarded a 1st class BSc in Human Physiology with distinction. He completed specialist training in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and General Internal Medicine in London working at University College Hospital and as a senior specialist registrar on the Liver Transplant unit at The Royal Free Hospital.
He was awarded a PhD from University College London for his research into the mechanisms of liver disease and viral hepatitis at The Institute of Hepatology in London with Prof. Roger Williams CBE and presented his findings at both national and international meetings.
Dr Evans was appointed at The Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in August 2011 and is also an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at The Institute of Hepatology since 2010.
