Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine that deals with disorders of the digestive system (gastrointestinal or GI tract) including the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver.

At Berkshire Independent Hospital we offer a full range of endoscopy services to diagnose and treat problems of the digestive system including: colonoscopy for the large bowel, gastroscopy for the oesophagus and stomach, and ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography) for the pancreas and bile ducts.

We offer rapid and convenient access to our experienced consultant gastroenterologists who work together with colorectal surgeons, bariatric surgeons and specialist dieticians.

We provide diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all types of digestive disease from common digestive disorders such as acid reflux, heartburn, ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), to chronic conditions including Crohn’s disease and digestive cancers.

Berkshire Independent Hospital have a number of gastroenterologists who are able to offer a range of procedures.
